The Air Force Academy is one of my very favorite places, since I met and married my military man here!!! It is a gorgeous base and if we?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re ever lucky enough to get stationed there I am going to have a heart attack or something. Out of pure shock over getting a decent place to live for once :)

If you?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re visiting USAFA, the base lodging (Rampart Lodge) is lovely. I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve used it myself several times and it doesn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t get any better than this in military lodging offerings. Their Outdoor Rec office is great too, they rent out a lot of outdoor gear and stuff.

Colorado Springs has a million things to do, and if you get tired of that there?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s always Denver, or a trip to Breckenridge/Frisco/Vail/Aspen?¢‚Ǩ¬¶the list goes on and on. I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m a Colorado native and have yet to explore everything this state offers!!

If you love the outdoors then you will LOVE Colorado. There are so many fun things to do, with the Rocky Mountains right in your backyard. Downtown is very lively too, and it hosts a great farmer?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s market in the summer months. Just realize that it can start snowing there as early as September and continue into June. The weather is a bit puzzling because one minute it will be incredibly sunny and the next you are in the middle of a rain storm. While driving around the Academy be aware of all the animal life. There is a herd of elk and deer that live there, you will also hear coyotes, sometimes encounter a bear, and fox, and there may even be a spotting of a mountain lion if it gets really ?¢‚Ǩ?ìhot?¢‚Ǩ¬ù during the summer. The Air Force Academy is a great place to live because there are tons of college sporting events you can attend, they have a great sledding hill in the winter, and the rec center is constantly planning ski/snowboarding trips and other outdoor adventures.

If you choose to go up Pikes Peak you can drive, hike, or take the cog railway. If you have never driven on mountain roads that aren?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t very wide, and have a straight drop off with no guard rail then I recommend taking the cog rail. They shoot fireworks off the top of the Peak every year during the 4th of July. It is a beautiful site.

It is a lovely place to live, and I haven?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t met a single person who hasn?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t enjoyed their time there.
